Bill Gates (a.k.a) Microsoft, is facing a hard time with Apple’s latest I’m Mac and I’m PC ads. So the late CEO is forcing 300 millions US dollar campaign with Seinfeld got 10 millions US dollar alone to fight this falling Vista by releasing their own counter ads. Here we go, we got 2 ads currently on air. Too bad, it’s more like a dull joke to me. An adult trying to act like a dumb kids is lowest common type of joke. Well, Bill… it’s not the ads that we need, we need something decent with Vista (or if there’s ever be it’s successor).

When it comes to Bill’s integrity, I salute him for everything he does with Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. But, sorry Bill, I guess, I don’t buy Windows because it sucks. Rather than spending 300 millions US dollar, I would rather like to see your “Last Day at Microsoft” movie and will march on your parade if you’d like to spend the money wisely to help poverty in Indonesia.

    That’s pretty fun to watch.
Seinfield is a great choice of actor. 🙂
But I agree : US$ 300 millions for that stuff is not well-spent.

(though I have said the same thing lately : Rp 17 millions only for a what????? A Macbook Air????)
    :cough: :cough:

it seems that some people today are having way too much money. 😉

That 300Million $ is part of the marketing promo budget and most of them will be counted as tax deductible expenses.

Bill is just trying to have some fun. 🙂 And most of us were entertained with the clips. 🙂

=> Wakakaka or better spend 2,000 us dollar like you did boss? 😛 nice try 😀 it’s like watching a comedian wannabe 😛

With his money, Bill should be a stand up comedian like Conan O’Brien :P… it will be more fun to watch. And, don’t forget to ask Warren Buffet along. It’s nice to have some more fun when you have everything.

So, Bill… when you’re gonna to spend the money here? It’s nice to have a comedian angel. People will love you man!… Malaria (like Bill & Melinda Foundation) is good move. But poverty comes first Bill.

IMO I’m Mac and I’m PC ads lebih “smart” dalam menyampaikan pesan pada pemirsa …

Kayaknya sih oom Bill cuma pengen buang2 duit ajah ..

I guess the “era” has start to change. While in the past people stuck with “one dominating OS” (and indeed once Microsoft OS and product was the best), now we got choices, and Microsoft product is no longer always the best.

Microsoft understands these threats. Before it’s too late, they start launching a “balanced attack”. One of such attempt is through “confusing ad”, and another is through what Microsoft called the MOJAVE EXPERIMENT.

All — in essence — try to defend Vista.

Microsoft Mojave experiment try to tout the “beauty” of Vista by sharing to the world how people get “ooh ahh” by the sheer beauty and magnificence of “Microsoft’s future operating system” which later they found out was VISTA!

They said people really “Oooh Ahh” about it, as they never thought such great operating system was VISTA!

Hmmm … this is so Ballmerian “trick” by nature. >:-(

I think this experiment “miss” ONE key important point:

    * Have these same people and audiences being shown Mac OS X BEFORE they are being shown Vista?
    * Or at least: Have these same people and audiences being shown Max OS X AFTER they are being shown Vista?

If they have been shown the Mac OS X before (or after) they have been shown Vista, what would then these same audiences feel? Would Vista be still “feel” the “same” ??

    http://arvino.typepad.com/digital_living/2008/09/microsoft-un-mojave-experiment-have-these-people-been-shown-a-mac-beforeafter-they-are-being-shown-vista.html

As for the ad, it might need sometime for us to really “feel” what this really is all about. The first one was totally confusing, the second totally boring. I don’t know how the 3rd one would be.

Oh, how sad to see how Microsoft has changed. From a tiny great company, into a big puny entity that if not change fast enough, might eventually lost its relevance.
